THIS MOTORCYCLE HAS TONS OF ORIGINAL / OEM PARTS ON IT. THIS MOTORCYCLE WAS NOT BUILT TO BE A 100% PERFECT 1940 100 POINT CORRECT RESTORATION. THE FRAME WAS RESTORED TO MINT CONDITION AND IT IS AN ALL ORIGINAL / OEM 1940 H-D FRAME. THE STEERING HEAD SHOWS THE CORRECT ORIGINAL / OEM (XE-35) (#6) CODE IN THE CORRECT 1940 LETTER & NUMBER FONT, ALL 100% CORRECT FOR 1940. THE AXLE PLATES SHOW THE CORRECT ORIGINAL / OEM CODES FOR 1940. THIS IS NOT A RECENTLY RESTORED FRAME THAT SOMEBODY INSTALLED REPLICA CODES TO MAKE IT LOOK LIKE AN ORIGINAL FRAME, THIS IS AN ALL ORIGINAL / OEM FRAME. THE ORIGINAL 1940 ENGINE WAS COMPLETELY RESTORED. IT'S ALL CORRECT 1940. THE ENGINE CASES ARE IN MINT CONDITION AND THEY ARE MATCHING ENGINE CASES. THE VIN NUMBER AND THE MATCHING BELLY NUMBERS ARE ALL ORIGINAL / OEM FACTORY STAMPED NUMBERS, THESE ARE NOT RESTAMPED ENGINE CASES LIKE YOU SEE ON MOST ENGINES OR IN MOST MOTORCYCLES. THE CYLINDERS ARE ORIGINAL / OEM 1940 DATED CYLINDERS, AGAIN, EVERYTHING CORRECT 1940.THE SPRINGER FRONT END IS ALL ORIGINAL / OEM WITH MONROE SHOCK. THE REAR LEG IS THE LATE 1938 TO MID 1945, CORRECT REAR LEG FOR 1940. BECAUSE OF PAINT, I CAN'T SEE THE EXACT CODE ON THE FRONT LEG BUT THE FRONT LEG HAS THE HUMP AND NOTCH WHICH MAKES IT A VERY RARE 2 YEAR ONLY PART, SO I WOULD SAY, IT HAS TO BE A NUMBER 6 - 7 - 8 OR 9 CODE, SO DEPENDING ON THE NUMBER CODE, THE FRONT LEG WILL BE IN THE CORRECT RANGE FOR A 1941 TO LATE 1942 MOTORCYCLE. THE TRANSMISSION CASE HAS DATE CODE (J-6) = (OCTOBER 1946). THE KICKER COVER HAS DATE CODE (D-0) = (APRIL 1940). THE GAS TANKS ARE ORIGINAL / OEM 1948 T0 1950 H-D PANHEAD GAS TANKS.
